Arkansas Launches $25 Million Grant Program for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure
The Arkansas Department of Natural Resources has opened a new $25 million matching grant program to accelerate shovel-ready water and wastewater projects. The program is designed to help communities move critical infrastructure improvements from the planning phase to construction.
Announced on August 31, 2026, the program requires a matching fund contribution of up to 30 percent, depending on the project type and local population. Eligible projects include sewer collection and treatment systems, as well as water supply and distribution upgrades.
To qualify, applicants must demonstrate that their projects are fully designed and permitted, or that they can be permitted within one year. This focus on readiness is intended to ensure that funds are deployed quickly to benefit Arkansans.
Applications are due by September 11, 2026, with funding decisions expected in November. The initiative is a strategic effort to help local governments and public water authorities address urgent infrastructure needs before the end of the year.
