Oktibbeha Planning Steps for Wastewater Treatment Expansion
The East Oktibbeha Wastewater District is planning for service expansions while navigating capacity constraints at the Starkville treatment plant. New sewer lines are expected to come online in late 2027 following plant upgrades.
The district has been working to expand its wastewater services since 2022, but progress has been limited by the processing capacity of the Starkville treatment facility. While smaller expansions are currently underway, the full system capacity will not be available until the Starkville plant completes its planned upgrades in mid-to-late 2027. The region has also faced historical legal and financial disputes regarding pump usage and maintenance costs.
