Submersible Mixers

Submersible Mixers

Keep solids in suspension in anoxic or anaerobic zones without adding oxygen.

Submersible mixers use a motor-driven propeller to keep solids suspended and promote uniform mixing without introducing oxygen, essential in anoxic and anaerobic zones.

Proper mixer placement and thrust sizing prevents dead zones where solids settle and go septic, causing odor and process inefficiency.

Common in anoxic zones of MLE nitrogen removal systems and in anaerobic digesters where oxygen intrusion must be avoided.

Watch for: rag/debris wrapping on the propeller (reduces thrust and increases amp draw) and visible settled solids near basin corners indicating insufficient mixing coverage.

Mixer thrust requirements scale with basin geometry, not just volume — a long, narrow anoxic zone typically needs a different thrust and placement strategy than a square or round basin of the same total volume.

Self-cleaning propeller designs shed wrapped rags automatically during rotation and are increasingly specified in high-rag wastewater service to reduce manual clearing frequency.
