Ferric/Alum Feed Systems
Bulk storage, dilution, and metering equipment specific to acidic, corrosive metal salt coagulants.
Ferric chloride and alum are both corrosive and require tanks, piping, and pumps rated specifically for compatibility, typically fiberglass, HDPE, or lined steel rather than standard carbon steel.
Dilution water is sometimes needed ahead of metering to reduce viscosity and improve dosing accuracy at low flow rates.
Watch for: crystallization or scaling in feed lines during cold weather and pump seal degradation from prolonged exposure to the corrosive chemical.
