Word Problem Translation

Converting a paragraph-style exam question into the correct formula and known values before calculating anything.

Key Formulas
Given value → unit pair

write { value, unit } for every number in the prompt

Identify the unknown

? = ⇒ which formula's output equals it

Dimension check

target unit = (units of inputs) after substitution

Underline or list every given numeric value and its unit first, before trying to identify which formula applies — this prevents missing a value buried in the question text.

Identify what's actually being asked (the specific unknown) clearly before starting calculations, since word problems sometimes provide more data than the specific question requires.

Practice with deliberately wordy, realistic-style questions rather than only clean formula-plug-in problems, since real exams rarely present values pre-organized for you.

Before you commit to a formula, do a unit check — substitute the units of each given value into the formula and confirm the result unit matches what the question asks for.
