Filament Index Scoring
A standardized 0-5 scale for rating filament abundance during a microscope exam, enabling trend tracking over time.
The scale runs from 0 (none observed) to 5 (excessive, filaments dominate the floc structure), giving a consistent way to compare samples across shifts and operators.
Tracking filament index alongside SVI over weeks builds a much clearer picture of a slow-developing bulking trend than either metric alone.
Training multiple staff to score consistently against reference images reduces the subjectivity that otherwise makes index scores hard to compare operator to operator.
