EPA Expands Online Clearinghouse Resources for Advanced Wastewater Treatment Technologies
The U.S. EPA upgraded its Wastewater Technology Clearinghouse and related financing portals to assist treatment utilities in evaluating advanced purification systems. The platform delivers vetted operational data on nutrient removal and reuse applications.
The EPA refreshed and expanded its comprehensive online infrastructure portals, featuring updated tools within the Wastewater Technology Clearinghouse, Water Finance Clearinghouse, and NPDES Permit Writers' Clearinghouse. The platform enhancements are designed to give municipal utility engineers and state regulators rapid access to certified technological performance data.
The updated resources provide detailed operational reviews of alternative wastewater treatment methods, including advanced biological nutrient removal, secondary filtration, and water reuse configurations. By cataloging real-world installation case studies, the database helps municipalities de-risk the integration of emerging technologies into capital works programs.
In addition to technological benchmarking, the portal provides financing roadmaps connecting utilities with state revolving funds, WIFIA opportunities, and technical assistance programs aimed at small and disadvantaged community systems.
